Abstract

Temperature equations which describe temperature distribution along the accelerating structure as a function of time are solved in some special but practical cases on traveling wave electron linacs. The time constant of temperature rise of the accelerating structure is about 20 seconds and the saturated temperature rise is about 2°C in usual S-band linacs for radiography and medical therapy. Also the temperature gradient along the accelerating sructure is discussed and its effects on performances of electron linacs are shown to be little.
