Abstract

SYNOPTIC ABSTRACTThis paper deals with transient analysis of multi-component repairable system having operable and cold standby units under the care of a repair facility consisting of permanent and additional repairmen to reduce the backlog of the failed units. The lifetime and repair times of failed units are exponentially distributed. Using appropriate state dependent failure and repair rates, the queue size distribution is obtained by solving the matrix form of the system of equations. Some performance indices such as reliability, mean time to system failure the average numbers of spares, total average cost, etc. are obtained. Numerical results are provided to examine the effect of the system parameters on performance indices.
