Abstract

AbstractThe need to adapt enterprises to the volatile market environment and reconstruct managerial and financial activities in response to the challenges of the market makes top managers face difficulties as they choose strategic development alternatives and make strategic decisions. Economic thought offers enterprises new development concepts, one of which is the concept of sustainable development. Firms operating in the same sector can choose various strategic benchmarks to achieve sustainability and competitive advantage. Telecommunications companies encourage and speed up social, economic and ecological sustainable growth and development for everyone. The paper discusses the conditions and strategic directions for sustainable development of Russian information and communication companies (MTS, MegaFon, Beeline, Tele 2) based on the content analysis of annual reports and sustainable development reports. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that all the companies take part in offering incentives, education and good working conditions to their employees, provide support to the local community, organize charity activities. However, in practice not all the companies implement strategic management based on sustainable development. The companies MTS and Beeline demonstrate more focus on sustainable development in their strategic goals and business strategies.
