Abstract

1. 1. Transferrin and hemoglobin components of Bufo regularis and B. rangeri are polymorphic. 2. 2. All toads of both species possessed at least two, electrophoretically distinct, iron-binding proteins. 3. 3. Specimens of B. regularis from an Egyptian population had from 2–4 different hemoglobin components. 4. 4. Blood protein evidence indicates that these two species hybridize at Port St. Johns, South Africa and that introgression is occuring and/or has occurred.
