Abstract: This article focuses on Book VIII Draft Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) regarding the acquisition and loss of ownership of goods. We study whether it is possible to transfer ownership to another unilaterally. In our opinion, the owner has the power to make this happen at least in some situations. In other words, the passing of ownership can be based on the unilateral juridical act performed by the owner. However, the regulation in Book VIII, Chapter 2, section I does not elaborate on the core element of the transaction, which, in our view based on some Finnish traditions, is transfer as unilateral juridical act.
