Abstract

ABSTRACTThree hundred and three biopsy specimens of nevocellular nevus were histologically examined from the point of view of the elimination phenomenon. Transepidermal elimination of nevus cell nests was observed in 6 cases. The incidence ratio of the elimination phenomenon was 5.4% in 111 nevi with junctional activity. There was a correlation between histological type of nevocellular nevus and patient age. With aging, the number of cases of both compound and junctional types tended to decrease, whereas the proportion of the intradermal type tended to increase. The elimination phenomenon may play an important role in the histological transition of nevocellular nevus with aging.
