Abstract
In Britain, the government’s population census 2001 has confirmed the legal classification of all British citizens. Ethnically, they are grouped as: White; Mixed; Asian or Asian British; Black or Black British; Chinese or Chinese British; or Other. The different religious and secular categories include Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jew, Muslim and Sikh. Moreover, the UK’s four countries – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – each have autonomy for internal affairs.
