Abstract

Background: Recognition and early intervention of obstetrical and neonatal emergencies can be challenging in rural community hospitals. Limited clinical exposure to medical emergencies in rural hospitals lead to challenges in ensuring patient safety and maintenance of proficiency. Simulation based interprofessional education (SBIPE) is a useful methodology to train medical teams for early recognition and intervention of emergent clinical situations and improve team dynamics and communication.
