Abstract
From January 19 to 21, Northwestern University hosted a gathering of anthropologists based outside and inside academia to discuss the future of applied training in the discipline. Participants included Leonard Borman (Director, Self-Help Institute), Gerald M. Britan (Northwestern), Ronald Cohen (Northwestern), Mim Dixon (Independent Consultant, Alaska), John Farella (Gateway Drug Abuse Center), Hugh Mullenbach (International Survey Research, Inc.), Miriam Rodin (University of Illinois at the Medical Center), George Roth (BIA), Jean Schensul (Director, Research-in-Action, Inc.), Helen B. Schwartzman (Institute for Juvenile Research), John Schwartzman (Center for Family Studies), Gwen Stern (Latina Mother-Infant Program), Martin Topper (USPHS Navajo Reservation), and Oswald Werner (Northwestern). Interested anthropology students and faculty from other policy-oriented programs and departments also attended the conference.
