Abstract

Objective To study the clinical effects of traditional Chinese medicine wax therapy combined with tripterygium wilfordii and methotrexate in the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis. Methods A total of 130 patients with active rheumatoid arthritis who were treated in Houma People’s Hospital from January 2017 to January 2019 were selected, and they were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 65 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with traditional Chinese medicine wax therapy and methotrexate, and patients in the observation group were treated with tripterygium wilfordii on the basis of the treatment of the control group. The plasma D-dimer, high-sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and Western Ontario and Mc Master Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) scores were compared before and 3 months after treatment between the two groups. And the improvement of the disease condition of the two groups was compared. Results After treatment, the plasma D-dimer, hs-CRP, ESR and WOMAC scores of the two groups were improved, which were significantly better than those preoperative levels (P<0.05). Moreover, the plasma D-dimer, hs-CRP, ESR and WOMAC scores of the observation group were significantly better than those of the control group after treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, the morning stiffness time in the observation group was shorter than that in the control group, and number of joint swelling and pain, and number of joint tenderness in the observation group were less than those in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions The treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis patients with traditional Chinese medicine wax therapy combined with tripterygium wilfordii and methotrexate is effective. Key words: Arthritis rheumatoid; Traditional Chinese medicine wax therapy; Tripterygium wilfordii; Methotrexate; Clinical efficacy
