Abstract

Finite Element Analysis is the process of simulating the behavior of a part or assembly under given conditions so it can be assessed using the finite element method (FEM). A finite element model is developed using commercial and widely available software Abaqus/Explicit 2020. The core objective of this research is to perform finite element analysis to predict traction performance of wheel on lunar/planet soil. In this research, Soil is modelled with parameters that represent pressure-dependent elastic-cap hardening. Drucker-Prager/Plastic law is followed. Mesh independence study is done to obtain results with finer mesh. Displacement magnitude, Equivalent Plastic Strain (PEEQ) and Slip are analyzed.
