Abstract

Objective To enhance the acknowledge and diagnosis of tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica (TO). Methods Reporting 2 patients with pathologically proved TO, analyzing the clinical presentations, computed tomography of the chest, bronchoscopic and histopathologic features, treatment and treatment effect, then review of literature. Results Two patients were all female, one is 55 years old another 33 years old, both presented as cough sptum, multiple cartilaginous osseous submucosal nodules protruding into the lumen of the trachea.One patient underwent cryotherapy, laser excision under the bronchoscope, another received oral glucocorticoid.Both patients, symptoms improved after treatment. Conclusions Clinical clinicalmanifestations of TO various, lacking of understanding of the TO leads to erroneous diagnosis or missed diagnosis, those who suffering chronic cough of unkown reason should undergo bronchoscopy to exclude TO.
