Abstract
Bruxism is a disorder that affects people of all ages, especially young adults, and can be classified as sleep bruxism and awake bruxism. This involuntary condition involves grinding or clenching the teeth, resulting in problems such as orofacial pain, dental wear, and sleep disorders, impacting the quality of life of those affected. With the increasing prevalence of bruxism, it is essential to find effective treatments. This study explored botulinum toxin (BT) as a therapeutic alternative for bruxism, evaluating its effectiveness in reducing symptoms and comparing it with other treatment modalities. The results of the study indicated the effectiveness of using the toxin for the therapeutic management of bruxism, with the purpose of reducing the symptoms caused by this parafunction. It was concluded from the reviewed articles that this substance can bring relief to the problem, relieving tension and its symptoms.
