Abstract

A 12 hour toxicity test of the emulsifiable concentrates of the seed oil extract of Azadirachta indica on Aedes aegypti larvae was carried out in the laboratory. The LC50 of the oil extracts used on 280 Aedes aegypti larvae was 5.0ml of the 2.5% seed oil stock solution. Mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae increased with increase in concentration of the oil extract. This value in relation to mortality was significant (p<0.05) as described by the relationship between the concentration of the seed oil extracts and probit mortality, Probit Y = 4.224X + 2.13. Mortality was thus dependent on the concentration of the oil extracts. The seed oil was very toxic on the larvae. The survival of Aedes aegypti larvae in relation to the seed oil extract decreased with increase in time and increased with decrease in concentration
