Abstract
A biomarker is an important indicator of normal biological processes, pathogenic conditions, or pharmacological responses to therapeutic intervention. The use of biomarkers will allow to improve the diagnosis of pathological conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, their complications and comorbid conditions, treatment strategy and determination of prognosis.
 The article highlights the significance of the sST2 biomarker in patients with suspected or proven heart failure, arterial hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. A review of fundamental research in recent years, which studied the role of sST2 in pathological conditions, was carried out.
