Abstract
We have measured the focusing properties of our chirped pulse amplification scheme which delivers 20 TW one-picosecond pulses. We have identified the imperfection in pulse compression gratings to be one of the major limitations and we show how to solve this issue. We show and discuss as well limitations due to nonlinear effects in propagation.
