Abstract

The authors reconsider the problem of pole assignment for second-order systems by means of periodic output feedback. They offer an approach that characterizes an output feedback which realizes a given characteristic polynomial of the transfer function. A complete solution for second-order systems is presented, in the sense of giving conditions for the realizability of pole assignment by periodic output feedback, and preliminary results for higher-order systems are discussed. >
