Abstract

This paper presents a time-domain incremental nonlinear solution procedure for the hydro-elastoplastic analysis of floating plate structures subjected to external loads (impact and wave), in which elastoplastic material behavior is considered. The finite element method is employed to model the floating plate structures, whereas the boundary element method is used to model the surrounding fluid domain. The time-domain incremental coupled equations of motion are formulated using the impulse response functions for hydrodynamic coefficients. Through numerical examples, we demonstrate the capability of the proposed solution procedure.
