Abstract

The quality of the barrier-free environment represents the degree of society’s care for people with mobility impairments. It is an important indicator of social civilization and the foundation of a happy aging society. The hospital provides public services and is mostly used by patients or the elderly. It is a landmark building that prioritizes barrier-free environment. However, since the scope of the building accessibility-related laws and regulations is only the building hardware, construction will be completed after the construction is completed. Relevant facilities and equipment are often not properly installed because subsequent planners and designers do not fully understand or pay attention to them, thus affecting the convenience of use. This article outlines the connotation and origin of regulations related to barrier-free facilities, especially discusses common problems in current hospital buildings, and puts forward better suggestions for improvement and installation. It is hoped that through everyone’s joint efforts, people with mobility impairments and the elderly will have safer and more convenient experiences. The medical environment also gives us more confidence to face the challenges of a super-aged society in the future.
