Abstract

Standardization in Information Systems profits from the existence of an overall model or design which enables the standard-designers to see the context in which the individual efforts are progressing. Such a model is proposed by the authors who suggest that ISO 1 1 ISO is the International Organization for Standardization, founded in 1947. ISO membership is composed of member countries and liaison members. A member country is represented by a member body, which is the national body most representative of standardization in that country. ISO's technical committees (TCs) are responsible for the development of standards. For example, TC97 is responsible for standards for computers and information processing. Each technical committee, including TC97, has subcommittees (SCs), which also have individual working groups (WGs). These subcommittees and working groups are charged with the study of one or several items within the program of work of the technical committee. organize its work in conformance to this framework.
