Abstract

The Freund-Harari principle of diffractive duality is implemented by summing the square of a t − u Veneziano tree-graph amplitude for the production of two resonances over all two body final states. This theory provides the basis for an ab initio calculation of the total cross section of the dual symmetric “rubber band” model and shows that the large degeneracy of daughter states leads (potentially) to a constant total cross section.
