Abstract

An eigenvalue equation is derived for ion temperature gradient driven modes in a toroidal geometry without any expansion in inverse aspect ratio and including the effect of dissipative trapped electrons and electron-ion collisional dissipation. In the electrostatic limit a simple quadratic dispersion relation is obtained. An upshift of the density scale length stability threshold and a downshift of the ηi stability threshold due to electron trapping is demonstrated.
