Abstract

• The ρ, u , V E , κ S E of studied mixtures are reported at 293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 K. • The calculated data have been tested in terms of Graph and PFP theories. • Graph theory more precisely predicts V E and κ S E data in comparison to PFP Theory. Densities, speeds of sound of 1-methylpyrrolidin-2-one (NMP) (1) + piperidine (2) + cyclopentanone (CPO), cyclohexanone (CHO), cycloheptanone (CHPO) (3) and the involved binary NMP (1) + piperidine (2) mixtures have been measured as a function of composition at temperatures from (293.15 - 308.15) K range in a step of 5 K and atmospheric pressure. Excess molar volumes, V E ; excess isentropic compressibilities, κ S E of the current mixtures have been determined using experimental data and correlated to composition using Cibulka and Redlich–Kister equations. Also, binary and ternary adjustable parameters along with standard deviations between measured and derived values via Cibulka and Redlich-Kister equations have been estimated. The V E , κ S E have also been assessed in terms of Graph and Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theories. Observed results suggest that Graph theory prophesies the most appropriate results.
