Abstract
Abstract A topographical survey is a survey for denning the natural as well as the artificial features in an area as distinct from a cadastral survey which is a survey for the purpose of defining artificial boundaries. The objects of topographical surveys vary considerably. For example, the survey may be undertaken to prepare a topographical map of a country or on the other hand it might be merely a local survey to help in the design of an irrigation scheme or the location of a road, etc. The method of making such a survey depends on conditions, the chief condition being the ultimate object of the survey. But all surveys are divided into two parts: (1) control survey, (2) detail.
