Abstract

This paper presents the assessment of associated effects due to earthquakes, like landslides and topographic amplification of ground motion, for the city of Ibague, using a Geographic Information System (GIS). Input data for the GIS system included: Topography, Geology, Geomorphology, and Surface Soil Description resulting in two maps: a) zones of potential landslides and b) zones of potential topographic amplification. It is advisable to improve the assessment by taking into account hydro meteorological and anthropogenic issues.
