Topical Trends of Library Activities: “Rumyantsev Readings - 2016”

Abstract

The article is devoted to the International Research and Practical Conference “Rumyantsev Readings - 2016”, held at the Russian State Library (RSL) on April 12-13, 2016. The event was attended by over 300 experts from 12 countries. Live webcast of the plenary session made possible for several hundred participants to virtually take part in the event. Within the frames of the conference there were conducted the Plenary Session, seven Workshops (“Theory and Practice of Bibliographing. Classification Systems”, “Effective Management of Library: Problems and Solutions” (Pre-session Meeting of the RLA Section No. 32 on Library Management and Marketing), “Manuscript Sources in the Library Holdings”, “Old and Rare Books, Literary Monuments”, “Collectors and Curators. The History of Russian Libraries”, “Actual Problems of the Development of Informational, Cultural and Educational Activities of Libraries”, “Libraries and Historical Science in Retrospective Context”) and five Roundtable discussions (“The Role of Libraries in the Information Support of Historical Science”, “E-Library in the Context of Library Activities: Status of Standardization” (Round Table 12A “Electronic Publications” of RLA Section on Building of Library Collections), “Library and Academic Community: Ways of Interaction”, International Round Tables “Library and Information Space of the CIS: Status and Prospects” and “Library Education in the CIS Countries: Status and Problems”).
