Abstract
The growth of RVO 4 crystals (R = T b, D y and T m) by pulling from Pb 2V 2O 7 flux is described. Crystals up to 19 mm in length and 4 mm in width were obtained with simple apparatus. X-ray anomalous transmission topography showed that the average dislocation density in optically clear sections was of the order of 10 2 cm -2. The crystal quality improved with increasing distance from the seed and regions near the termination facets of some crystals were nearly free from dislocations.
