Abstract

Abstract Tomas Salvador (1921–1984) Tomas Salvador Espeso, the second of three brothers, was born in Villada, near Palencia, Spain, on March 9, 1921, in the Civil Guard residential quarters. His father, Serapio, and his mother, Pilar, hailed from nearby Grajal de Campos. When Salvador was eight years of age, his father, a Civil Guard, was posted to Madrid and the family settled in the Ventas del Espiritu Santo suburb. Salvador was educated at the Colegio Fundacion Caldeira, a school run by Capuchin monks. In November 1938, Salvador was called up by the Republican army and sent to the Guadalajara front. He surrendered to the Nationalist side in Torrecuadrilla in March 1939.
