Abstract

The article presents the etymological analysis of one of the most fa-mous naming of the Western Buryat lingering invocation song ай дон дуун, also known in the tradition under the names хаахиргаан дуун and зэргэйн дуун. The study of this song is especially important as it still represents an un-derdeveloped genre of the traditional song culture of the Buryats and, there-fore, deserves special attention.
