Abstract
Purpose: Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is a key treatment in the management of respiratory conditions and is highly effective in improving respiratory symptoms, quality of life and improving exercise capacity. However, as patients progress through a programme, other (non-respiratory) factors can impact on the patients’ ability to engage in and complete PR. Musculoskeletal problems such as osteoarthritic pain have been found to be more common in patients with COPD and are associated with poor self-related health. The purpose of this investigation was to understand the prevalence and impact of hip and knee pain on PR outcomes and completion rates.
