Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy of intrastromal injection of voriconazole in resistant cases of fungal corneal ulcer. Methods: 25 cases of fungal corneal ulcer were diagnosed on the basis of clinical findings and KOH staining between July 2019 to July 2020 in NMCH, Sasaram, Bihar. They were treated with topical natamycin (5%) and voriconazole (1%). 6 cases that did not improve; judged clinically by increasing size of ulcer and clinical signs; were subjected to intrastromal voriconazole (50mcg/0.1ml) around ulcer in 4 meridians. Observation and result: 3 cases improved clinically and rest 3 cases which did not improve were referred for therapeutic keratoplasty. Conclusion: In resistant cases of fungal corneal ulcer intrastromal injection of voriconazole can be tried.
