Abstract

The suitability of nitroferroin as indicator in the titration of oxalic acid with ceric sulphate has been investigated. It has been found from a comparative study that nitroferroin serves the purpose more satisfactorily and advantageously than ferroin. The use of nitroferroin as indicator avoids the need for high temperature, catalyst, and removal of sulphate ions during the titration and permits a satisfactory titration in HCl, HClO4, and HNO3 media.
