Abstract

Abstract Nowadays, flow control is extensively studied in fluid dynamic domain, and the principal aim is to manipulate the flow path that passes over a surface to reduce losses generated by turbulent flow, generated by detachment. The Flow control involves passive or active methods, and for approximately thirty years, active flow control methods have been studied and developed in axial compressors more intensively, active flow control methods are those in which energy is added to the fluid through an external source. The flow control reduces losses generated by secondary flow effects, such as flow detachment at rotor tip, flow detachment at casing and flow detachment at stator vanes hub. The present paper provides a summary of investigation of active flow control methods tip air injection and plasma actuators.
