Abstract

A new technique for the numerical simulation of 3D time-dependent flow of viscoelastic fluid is presented. The technique is based on a Lagrangian kinematic description of the fluid flow and represents a further development of the 2D Lagrangian integral method (LIM). The convergence of the method is demonstrated on the problem of a sphere moving in a cylinder filled with an upper convected Maxwell fluid.
