Abstract
The decay of luminescence of ZnS activated by different amounts of Mn (1 × 10-2 to 3 wt%) has been measured. The crystals were excited by dye laser pulses of about 10-8s with high resolution (< 2 cm-1). Both time resolved excitation and emission spectra at different temperatures and with different amounts of Mn allow the identification of zero phonon lines due to Mn pairs within the 6A1(S) → 4E(G), 4A(G) excitation band and within the 4T1(G) → 6A1(S) emission band.
