Abstract

A time-of-flight spectrometer (TOFS) has been developed and tested which allows the determination of projectile scattering angles ϑ in the range of 10 −6 rad. The basic idea behind the TOFS and first differential measurements of multiple ionization cross sections as a function of recoil ion energy for the collision system 5.9 MeV/u U 65+ on Ne are presented. The properties of the spectrometer and future applications are discussed.
