Abstract

This text reflects on the work of the Nucleus of Studies and Research in Early Childhood Education (NUPEIN - CED/UFSC), during its 30-year history, and focuses on ethics in research with children. It presents discussions undertaken at the V GRUPECI (2016) and expands the debate through studies defended after this encounter, highlighting a set of challenges faced over these three decades. The challenges in the realm of early childhood studies include: the need to emphasize questionings about the listening to children’s voices in the studies; the need for a posture of permanent critical reflexivity; and issues related to the ethical symmetry convoked by the studies, while understanding alterities and similitudes as aspects that integrate a dialogical relationship between adults and children.
