Abstract

In the West Siberian region, thunderstorm activity forms an electromagnetic hum in a wide frequency band. The maximum power density of lightning discharges is concentrated in the range of extremely low frequencies – up to 30 Hz. Thunderstorm activity in Western Siberia is seasonal in nature and accounts for the summer period. The paper analyzes the thunderstorm activity in the season of 2018, taking into account its main parameters: the location of lightning discharges, their morphological type, month of the year and local time. According to the method developed earlier, estimates of the contribution of local thunderstorm activity to variations of the components of the magnetic induction of the extremely low frequency range in Tomsk were obtained.
