Abstract

Abstract Experiments were conducted at the Texas A&M Agricultural Research and Extension Center, Lubbock, Texas. ‘Texas Grano 438’ onions were transplanted 17 Mar into double-row beds (10-inch rows, 40-inch centers). Plots were 20 ft by 4 beds wide and bordered by 1 row of rye. Treatments were arranged in a randomized complete block design with 4 replications. Insecticides were applied on 12 May and 5 and 22 Jun with a CO2 powered backpack sprayer with 2 TX12 nozzles/row at 20 gal/acre and 50 psi. Efficacy was determined by counts (visual inspection) on 5 plants/plot on 11, 15, 26 May, 3, 8, 16, 21 and 25 Jun. One adult thrips was collected from each of 5 plants/plot on each sample date for species identification.
