Abstract

In this paper, fractional open circuit algorithm based solar PV(photo-voltaic) integrated UPQC(unified power quality conditioner) is presented and its performance is analysed during steady state and dynamic conditions using Matlab Simulink software. In UPQC Shunt and series connected voltage source converters(VSC) are connected back to back having a dc link in common. Shunt compensator has dual functionality such as it extracts power from solar PV array and provide current compensation where as series compensator provides voltage compensation by injecting voltage(in phase/out of phase) into the grid through the point of common coupling during voltage sags/swells. Fractional open circuit algorithm with single stage topology is used for extracting power from PV array. Fractional open circuit algorithm is not only easy to impelement but also gives smooth and oscillation free responses. This system acts as a multifunctonal system by providing clean energy to the grid with improved Power quality,
