Abstract
Photography is integral to the practice of facial plastic surgery. We describe a new 3-D photographysystem,the3dMDfaceSystem(3dMD,Atlanta,Ga),whichprovidesahighresolution 3-D image that can be viewed from any angle; has the ability to accurately measure surface distance, area, and volume; and performs profile adjustments that can be viewed in 3 dimensions. We describe specific applications of this system to facial plastic surgery, namely, to that of the aging face.
