Abstract

This paper deals with the Computer Code SERBIN developed at ENEL-CRTN to analyze the thermal performance of seasonal heat storage in a buried tank under various operating conditions. The presented results are related to an interseasonal combined solar-heat pump system used for the space conditioning of an ENEL commercial building in Turin. The final release of the computer code will consent to solve the complete set of mass, momentum and energy conservation equations, in the framework of the FEM. At present only the solution of the heat transfer problem has been implemented. The effects of the natural and forced convection are simulated by suitably changing the positions of the inlet and outlet flow. In spite of this limitation, reasonable suggestions have been obtained to evaluate, from the economic point of view, the optimum ground insulation of the storage tank.
