Abstract

In the past two years, beginning with Adolfo Gilly's articles in the May and June, 1965 issues, Monthly Review has devoted considerable space to the guerrilla movement in Guatemala. From time to time readers who have had an unusual opportunity to observe or learn about conditions in Guatemala pass along these impressions or information to us. We publish below three such reports. The first is by John and Barbara Ehrenreich, who are graduate students in biology. The second is by Judy Hicks who has a Ph.D. in anthropology. And the third is by A.P. Short, who was the delegate of the Young Socialist League of Jamaica to last summer's July 26th celebration in Cuba. All three reports were written before the death in October of Luis Augusto Turcios, who until then had been the leader of the Guatemalan Rebel Armed Forces (FAR). —The EditorsThis article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.Click here to purchase a PDF version of this article at the Monthly Review website.
