Abstract

The plant Weigela subsessilis L. H. BAILEY is an endemic species that grows over all in Korea. It showed anti-complementary activity, inhibitory effect of LDL oxidation, and stimulation of glucose uptake effect. However, few investigations have been reported about this plant. Therefore, to find more constituents of this plant, we isolated three new triterpenoid glycosides, loniceroside K-M (1 – 3), and a new secoiridoid glycoside, picrogentioside D (4), along with 11 known compounds from our phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the aerial part from W. subsessilis. Among the 11 known compounds, five compounds (5, 8, 13 – 15) have not been reported in Weigela yet. It is the first time we report these compounds in Weigela Their structure were tentatively identified by comparison with reference compounds, extensive spectroscopic analysis, including two-dimensional (2D)-NMR experiments and ESIMS data.
