Abstract

This paper presents three application specific instruction-set processors (ASIP), signal processor for OFDM communication systems (SPOCS), video specific instruction-set processor (VSIP), and digital audio specific instruction-set processor (DASIP). ASIP can compromise advantages of high performance, low power consumption and flexibility. The implemented ASIPs have specific instructions and hardware accelerators for computation intensive parts. The proposed ASIPs and hardware accelerators have been thoroughly verified using Xilinx XC2v6000 FPGA and were fabricated by MPW services. The proposed ASIPs show good performance and low power consumption compared with commercial DSPs.
