Abstract

Three dimensional images of coral reefs can be generated using commercially available programs on microcomputers. Input data are randomly spaced (usually line transect) controlled bathymetry which is gridded and plotted as vertically enhanced 3-D images. Submarine relief details not visible by any other means become evident, providing novel information on reef platform evolution and current geomorphological processes.
