Abstract

The work presented deals with application of Finite Element Method (FEM) in analysis of fracture parameters such as Stress Intensity Factors (SIFs) for 3 dimensional domain with single and multiple cracks. Cracks length and depth are varied to obtain all three modes of SIFs (KI, KII and KIII). The work also encompasses the effect of presence of multiple cracks in the domain. The crack interaction study has been done for 4 cracks under compressive load. The results of multi crack simulation and Single crack simulation provides a glimpse of variation of SIFs due to other cracks.
