Abstract

The mixed convection boundary-layer flow in the vicinity of the median plane of symmetry of a finite span wedge is considered and the similarity equations are derived for situations where one of the wedge surfaces is kept vertical. The resulting equations involve the Prandtl number Pr, the buoyancy parameter a and the Falkner-Skan parameter β. It is found that they have non-unique solutions which become four in number in some cases; two dual solutions for both aiding and opposing flow regimes. The free convection limit is also treated on considering the asymptotic equations for large α. For both flows numerical results for the prescribed wall temperature and wall heat flux are presented and discussed.
