Abstract

A three-axis absolute value magnetometer based on weak (anti) localization has been developed to help nullifying the magnetic field to μT accuracy. The magnetometer utilizes the sharp weak localization magnetoresistance of a 2-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) of a GaAlAs heterostructure. It has been used to zero three orthogonal components of the external magnetic field in a sub-mK experiment, where the nuclear magnetic ordering of silver is studied by neutron diffraction.
