Abstract
Magnetic core–shell particles were synthesized by the attachment of a polymeric brush onthe surface of magnetite nanoparticles. The hybrid particles are well dispersible in goodsolvents for the polymeric shell and form thermoreversible magnetic fluids incarrier fluids with a critical solution behaviour. The thermoresponsive effect can beactivated by the application of a high frequency electromagnetic field and may beuseful for magnetic separation, recoverable catalysts and for drug release purposes.
